Serving Japanese and Asian fusion dishes in a casual open-air setting, Hatsumama is most crowded at lunch (11 am-3 pm) since the rapid service does not lend itself to lingering over dinner. The food is delicious, however, and, because it’s light, the dishes are just right for the tropics. Start with chicken potstickers or the tuna carpaccio. Beef and chicken satays and soba noodle salad make a good duo. Heartier fare includes chicken or tofu stir fry, pork spare ribs or blackened scallops with spinach and shitake salad. Casual attire.
